Users of Des Moines-based Dwolla Inc.'s mobile payment system are unable to transfer money to and from a leading Bitcoin trading platform, Mt. Gox, following a court order from the Department of Homeland Security, tech news site Mashable reported.
Dwolla users began receiving messages on Tuesday afternoon, telling them Dwolla is "not a party to this matter nor does it have any information or further insight into the situation."
Jordan Lampe, a spokesperson for Dwolla, said in a statement to the Business Record: "We appreciate the sensitivity and frustration caused by the seizure, but consider this legal matter independent of Dwolla and residing between the two parties. We have informed our users that we believe were most immediately impacted, but have no additional insight or information regarding the situation."
