Bawte, the Des Moines startup for an app that allows users to tag purchased items and receive product manuals or service information, has been nominated in the Best Creation category of Silicon Prairie News' annual awards, according its website. Also,Wade Arnold, founder and CEO of Banno, which builds software for financial institutions and has offices in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, has been nominated for Executive of the Year. Several Iowa college students have been nominated as best student entrepreneurs, and Geoff Wood, who recently announced plans for Gravitate, a new entrepreneur center in downtown Des Moines, was nominated as a Silicon Prairie Champion, noting that "he's the state of Iowa's premier advocate for startups."
