Passenger activity at Des Moines International Airport was up 6.5 percent in June, according to numbers released Friday. A total of 215,859 passengers passed through the airport in June, up from 202,660 a year ago. For the first six months of the year, passenger activity was up 5.4 percent compared with the same period a year ago. A total of 1.15 million passengers have come through the airport so far this year. Southwest Airlines had a 32.5 percent year-over-year increase in June and has seen a 47.5 percent increase year over year in the first six months after adding service last September. Allegiant Air had a 29.2 percent increase in June. Cargo activity was also up 3.9 percent in June.
