The discovery of a tiny
endangered bat could delay work on a $31 million interstate interchange
expected to spur development and bring new businesses and jobs to Waukee and
West Des Moines, The
Des Moines Register reported. City officials learned in late
February that a single female Indiana bat was located about five-eighths of a
mile from the site of the proposed Interstate Highway 80 interchange with
Alice's Road in Waukee and 105th Street in West Des Moines.
