IowaPolitics.com said hundreds of pieces of proposed legislation are in jeopardy as Iowa lawmakers thin their legislative agendas. Set to be discarded during the legislature's so-called funnel week, are bills that would ban texting while driving; consider the public financing of elections; standardize weapons permits; protect bicyclists and other vulnerable users of a highway, including pedestrians, horseback riders and people driving a tractor; and require school districts to adopt policies on dating violence.

Principal Financial Group Inc. will release its year-end earnings results at 3 p.m. today, with a news conference scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday to discuss the results. A consensus of Wall Street analysts predicts a profit of 65 cents per share on revenues of $2.51 billion, according to TradersHuddle.com.

The National Guard has distributed a list of participating practices to all interested and eligible soldiers.
