Black Friday: TV wars, and deals on cars One week until Black Friday Eve - and in case you haven't heard, Black Friday means big deals around the country. Flatscreen HDTVs, global positioning systems, and yes, believe it or not, cars, will be bargains during this year's post-Thanksgiving retail feast.

TV sellers are competing for customers and are likely going to wage a price war, according to a CNNMoney.com story. The article said consumers will likely find good prices on 32-inch to 37-inch HDTVs but not necessarily on the bigger models.

The publisher of TVpreditions.com, Phillip Swann, told CNNMoney.com that he is already seeing 32-inch LCD models under $400; they typically cost $500 or more.

Ross Rubin, a consumer electronics analyst with NPD Group, told CNNMoney.com that 32-inch models under $400 is the key price for merchants.

After Thanksgiving, Target for example will be offering a 32-inch Emerson LCD HDTV for $246, and a 42-inch Emerson plasma for $448. Wal-Mart confirmed it will sell a 50-inch plasma HDTV for $598, and will match the price of any local competitor's printed ad for an identical product. Best Buy said it has a year-round price-matching policy where it will match a competitor's lower price on the same TV model.

Cash for Clunkers may be over, but if you're in the market for a new car, the day after Thanksgiving might be your best bet. According to Truecar.com, a car pricing research Web site cited in a CNNMoney.com article, the day after Thanksgiving is the best day to buy. The average discount on new cars on Nov. 27 is expected to be 7.5 percent.

Truecar.com predicted discounts of 28 percent off sticker price for the 2009 Suzuki SX4 compact, 26 percent off for the 2009 Nissan Titan or Ford F-150, and 20 percent off the 2009 Hyundai Sonata sedan.
