Community foundations across the state will receive approximately $10 million in funding through the 2011 County Endowment Fund Program, announced Gov. Terry Branstad and officials from the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Iowa Council of Foundations. Approximately $118,000 will be distributed to the 85 community foundations participating in the program. The source of funding for the program is eight-tenths of 1 percent of the state’s gambling revenues. Each foundation must grant 75 percent of those funds to charitable projects and programs in their counties and use the remaining 25 percent to build a permanent, unrestricted endowment fund.
