On Monday, the dealerships packed 1,000 hygiene bags that included $30,000 worth of items such as full-size shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, brushes and feminine hygiene products. The bags will be distributed to more than 40 schools in the district to fill hygiene closets. Stew Hansen and Dewey Dodge’s “We’re Here for You” initiative is intended to buy local and give back to the local community members. The dealerships aim to show love and support to homeless students and let them know they are not alone. The program started as a three-month project during the pandemic and has now helped thousands of Iowans and people in other states where Ken Garff auto dealerships operate.
