Forbes’ 2024 lists of the best banks and best credit unions in each state featured 11 financial institutions in Iowa. The Iowa credit unions recognized were Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo; GreenState Credit Union in North Liberty; Dupaco Credit Union in Dubuque; Linn Area Credit Union in Cedar Rapids; Community Choice Credit Union in Johnston; and Community 1st Credit Union in Ottumwa. The Iowa banks on Forbes’ list are Lincoln Savings Bank in Reinbeck; First Citizens Bank in Mason City; Availa Bank in Carroll; Hills Bank in Hills; and Bank Iowa in West Des Moines. To create the lists, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista, which surveyed approximately 26,000 U.S. residents about banks and credit unions they are familiar with. Statista also collected online text reviews and ratings about the banks and credit unions posted between February 2021 and March 2024. To read the full methodology, click here.
