15 Iowa dairies awarded innovation grants

123 wordsAg and Environment, All Latest NewsThe Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has awarded 15 Iowa dairy projects Choose Iowa Dairy Innovation Grants, which is in its second year. The cost-share grants aim to help expand on-farm dairy processing and incorporate labor-saving technology to help increase the availability of Iowa dairy products for consumers. In Central Iowa, the Iowa State University Creamery received a more than $25,000 grant to expand cheese processing at its on-campus facility. The annual amount of state funding allocated for the grants is $750,000, with each grant matching up to $100,000 per project.
