She coordinates every aspect of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute program and also helps new chambers of commerce get their programs off the ground. Currently, she’s working with the recently organized Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce board.

“Her self-motivation, energy, creativity and business sense are constant assets to her overall success and are contagious with those with whom she works,” wrote Soozie McBroom, who serves on the West Side chamber board and is a Leadership Institute graduate.

The outstanding people she gets to meet are one of the best parts of her job with the Partnership, Batcheller said.

“Really, all of the volunteers I get to work with teach me something every day about being passionate about their cause,” said Batcheller, who has been with the Partnership since 2005. “I’m just really honored to be able to work with people like that.”

Batcheller’s own volunteer efforts extend in several directions.

She has helped with the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction fund-raising event, and last year helped organize a benefit fashion show held at the Science Center of Iowa. She also became a member of Junior League of Des Moines last year.

A 2001 Iowa State University graduate and an alumna of Chi Omega sorority, she recently helped to recruit a 15-member volunteer board to turn around the struggling ISU chapter. She was chosen in 2008 to serve as a regional alumnae director for the national sorority.

She has also used her experience as a former color guard member in Dubuque to coach and choreograph the Dowling Catholic High School Color Guard for the past seven years.

“It’s kind of fun to work with high school girls and college-age women,” Batcheller said. “They really need a strong mentor at that time. I had a strong mentor; I just hope that I can be one for young women.”

She is married to Adam Batcheller.
