He was involved with D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and mentored other students.

“It was just something that always appealed to me,” he said. “As a kid, I was fortunate to have three older brothers to look up to … and a lot of these kids don’t have that.”

Dingel is mentoring his second “little brother” through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, where he also is a member of the Bowl for Kids’ Sake committee. In addition, he is involved with the Meals From the Heartland food drive through his membership in the Young Professionals Connection.

As a member of the Leadership Urbandale class of 2007-2008, he participated in the makeover of the Jensen Elementary School playground.

Dingel also was instrumental in forming the B.I.G. Lunch Group, something of an informal collection of individuals who get together to brainstorm ways to drive business growth in Greater Des Moines.

“I think what has kind of driven me to do those things is that I have been very fortunate with people giving me opportunities,” Dingel said, including CB Richard Ellis/Hubbell Commercial, where he was given a job after an internship.

He has proved to be a successful commercial real estate broker, participating in deals valued at $46 million last year and $22.5 million in 2008.

In 2009, he received the F.M. Hubbell Memorial Production Reward.

“Tyler is an up and coming leader of our company, industry and community,” Kyle Gamble, senior vice president and managing director of CB Richard Ellis/Hubbell Commercial, wrote in nominating Dingel for the 40 Under 40 award.

Dingel and his wife, Valerie, are expecting their first child in July.
