2011 Energy Independence Plan released
Biofuels play a key role in the 2011 Energy Independence Plan released Tuesday by the Iowa Office of Energy Independence (OEI). The plan, which details 18 recommendations, highlights the need for continued development and increased use of biofuels in Iowa and nationwide to help reduce the demand for foreign oil. Iowa is the leading biofuels producer in the United States, accounting for nearly 30 percent of U.S. ethanol and 15 percent of biodiesel production, according to the report.
