About the artist
This year's publication was brought to life by Laura Palmer's illustrations.
A lifelong Iowan who values the U.S. Postal Service and a thoughtfully handwritten note, Laura started XO-LP in 2009, producing whimsical illustrations made with markers and wit. In 2014, she went from full-time fundraiser to full-time illustrator, a dream she's had since creating her first handmade greeting card in 1988.
Laura has worked on hundreds of projects, including illustrations that appeared in Better Homes and Gardens magazine, a 50-foot mural in collaboration with Greenwood Elementary students, a water tower that looks over her hometown of Muscatine and her 5-year-old nephew's Valentine's Day cards.
