ISU, UNI receive federal grants for innovation programs

107 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Innovation and EntrepreneurshipTwo of Iowa’s regent universities have received competitive grants from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for programs intended to promote American innovation and strengthen regional economies, the Corridor Business Journal reported. Iowa State University received $138,000 to support the development of the Iowa Workforce Innovation Network (iWIN) aimed at working with economic developers and education and business leaders to create innovative solutions to systemic workforce challenges. The University of Northern Iowa received $131,000 to support business retention and expansion through a targeted focus on intrapreneurship services. The schools were among 20 colleges and universities in 13 states receiving funding through the University Center Economic Development Program Competition.
