Casey Foundation to provide consulting support to Iowa DHS
The Iowa Department of Human Services announced that it will receive strategic support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation to implement the Family First Prevention and Services Act. The federal legislation will restructure how the federal government spends money on child welfare to improve outcomes for children. The foundation will provide consulting services to DHS and provide recommendations on how to prioritize focused strategic improvements. Key components of Family First will include foster care prevention services such as mental health, substance abuse treatment services, and in-home, parent skill-based programs that include parent education and individual and family counseling.
