129 wordsBusiness Record Insider, Economic Development, The Insider NotebookFiveThirtyEight took November’s national jobs report and breaks down how we read the traditional charts, what we miss, and what their team thinks we can all do better. Take September — this year’s report, on its second revision, dropped to 119,000 added jobs, 15,000 less than what was initially reported. It’s a good reminder of how many revisions these reports go through after initial release — the whole story is usually two revisions away. This piece is actually an update FiveThirtyEight’s team releases monthly with the previous report’s stats, so tune in January to see what they have to say. (This is also a great moment for me to link to this FiveThirtyEight science story, which is infinitely less important in an economic sense and just as thoughtful.)
