Des Moines Area Community College is investigating after a cybersecurity incident was first identified Wednesday morning. All virtual instruction courses are canceled for today; classes and other DMACC systems were taken offline Thursday afternoon by DMACC’s information technology department until the situation is resolved. As of this morning, the DMACC website is inaccessible.

In a statement to the Business Record, DMACC said the college is working with cybersecurity professionals to investigate the incident.

“Currently, DMACC has no evidence that any of our student or facility information has been accessed or misused. However, our investigation remains ongoing,” according to the statement.

A spokesperson could not confirm whether staff or faculty information has been identified, but said the investigation is continuing.

DMACC’s IT department is working to restore affected systems and bring them back online as soon as possible. The community college network serves about 70,000 credit and noncredit students annually, including students who attend the six campus locations and six learning centers across Central Iowa. DMACC summer courses began on May 25.
