The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recently conferred a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UnityPoint Health-Iowa Lutheran Hospital. The award recognizes unit caregivers that successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards. “This is a tremendous accomplishment for our great team at Iowa Lutheran Hospital,” said David Stark, president and CEO, of UnityPoint Health-Des Moines. “We are proud to be one of only two gold Beacon distinctions in the state of Iowa.” In November, UnityPoint Health announced that its Adult Critical Care Unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center had received a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence from AACN.
