A Des Moines-area dental group has signed a long-term lease for 5,000 square feet in a speculative building in Grimes developed by Kurt Mumm and Mark Hanrahan.

The building is one of two developed in the 2400 block of East First Street by Mumm and Hanrahan.

“Because we’re such smart real estate guys, we built a drive-thru thinking that we were going to get restaurants,” Mumm joked. “This group came along and felt like Grimes … would be a good place for another location.”

The group – Dental Associates PC, has an office is at 3700 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines and one at 4119 S.W. Ninth St. in Des Moines.

“We have a plan to broaden our footprint in Central Iowa and reach more people,” said Tom Small, one of the group’s dentists. “Grimes is a great place, and with the growth that is happening there, we saw this as a great opportunity.”

Small said the office will open in three to four months.
