Iowa City and two suburbs will formally sign an agreement to refrain from encouraging area businesses to migrate from one community to another, reports the Corridor Business Journal. The mayors of Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty will formally sign an Economic Development Communication Protocol on Friday, promising the cities are “dedicated to refraining from actively encouraging business migration from one city to another,” CBJ reports. The plan lays out a series of communication steps should a business decide to move from one city to another. The protocol comes after two instances in 2012 and 2015 of businesses seeking millions in financial assistance to relocate across city borders.
