Urban Dreams will be opening a food pantry in Cedar Rapids tomorrow to help fight food insecurity in the region. According to a story published by KCRG-TV, the food pantry will open at the Ladd Library, 3750 Williams Blvd. S.W. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Izaah Knox, the nonprofit organization’s executive director, said the pantry will fill a gap that exists on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids when it comes to food insecurity. The new pantry, a partnership with the city of Cedar Rapids, will work with the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program and provide nonperishable and refrigerated items. Knox said people will be able to visit the food pantry multiple times on the days it is open to get what they need.
