Adventure story series lets residents explore downtown in new, interactive ways
Downtown Des Moines neighborhoods will be transformed into unique adventure stories to give residents and visitors a chance to explore the community through storytelling. The Downtown Des Moines Adventure Stories series kicks off Aug. 18 in central downtown when the first two stories will be revealed. According to a news release, new adventure stories will be released every Wednesday until Sept. 8. The stories will help residents and visitors discover new nooks and crannies with chapters hidden near well-known spaces. All the stories will be broken up into a set of chapters. Each chapter will be marked on-site with visuals that include a QR code, which can be scanned to open the corresponding chapter on a smartphone. Each chapter will have an interactive activity that allows participants to engage with the story. A clue at the end of each chapter will lead participants on to the next stop in the story, with each story containing four to six chapters. Tiffany Tauscheck, chief operations officer at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, said the Adventure Stories series “will give residents and visitors an opportunity to explore downtown in a different way than they ever have before.”
