Des Moines’ sewage is carrying more coronavirus than most cities’
Des Moines Register: Results have started to roll in from a study of coronavirus in Central Iowa sewage, and they’re not looking good. Early tests suggest our wastewater is carrying more of the virus than seen in most other cities’ sewage. About 330 sewage treatment plants around the country are taking part in the federally financed program. A recent lab report says Des Moines’ samples have been trending higher than those from 77% of the other participating plants. The concentration in the Des Moines samples was more than double the average.
