Health nonprofit EveryStep seeks reform on MCOs, worker shortages
EveryStep, one of Iowa’s largest nonprofit health organizations, will hold a Day on the Hill on Wednesday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Capitol rotunda to advocate for legislative reform related to Medicaid Managed Care oversight, the direct care worker shortage and other key health care issues. Unresolved concerns about Medicaid Managed Care oversight and the direct care workforce must be addressed and improved through legislative action, said Tray Wade, president and CEO of EveryStep, formerly HCI Care Services and Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa. “It is clear that we need to continue to all work together, providers, legislators and the MCOs so improved health outcomes can be achieved,” he said in a statement. “We need to see improvements in the Medicaid Managed Care program so that it meets the needs of beneficiaries and providers.” In addition to direct care workforce shortages and Medicaid Managed Care, EveryStep also plans to advocate on six other issues: telehealth, Early Childhood Iowa, immigration, children’s health, grief and loss/mental health, and hospice room and board pass-through payments.
