Wall Street Journal: The number of people filing for jobless benefits fell to a new pandemic low last week, continuing a downward trend that began in July. Unemployment claims for the week ended Sept. 4 were down to 310,000, with the four-week average of 339,500, also a pandemic low. The downward trend is an indication that companies are retaining workers despite the spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and weaker than expected job growth last month.
