Grinnell College completes first phase of Humanities and Social Sciences addition
Grinnell College announced it has opened its newly constructed Humanities and Social Sciences building on its campus in Grinnell. The $112 million HSSC brings non-fine arts humanities and social studies departments together in one building to create innovative learning spaces that encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, active inquiry, student research and “intellectual collisions.” Construction workers are doing finishing work in the atrium and other areas. Once the new portion of the HSSC is completed, the workers will move to the second phase of HSSC construction: renovation and expansion of Alumni Recitation Hall and Carnegie Hall.
