Derry named chair of DMACC paralegal program

149 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Key Leadership ChangesKarin Derry of Johnston has been selected as the new chair of the DMACC Paralegal Program located at the Urban Campus in Des Moines. With a background in human resources management, Derry also has a law degree and has worked as an attorney. Most recently, she served as a state legislator in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing House District 39 (Johnston, Grimes and Webster and Jefferson townships) from January 2019 to January 2021. “Karin comes to DMACC with a very diverse and experienced background,” said DMACC Provost Anne Howsare Boyens. “She is the type of person we need to lead our paralegal program through the changes occurring within the legal community.” Derry will also teach four paralegal classes each semester. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Administration and law degree, graduating with highest honors from Drake University.
