Two finalists for the Des Moines Water Works CEO and general manager position are scheduled to be interviewed publicly but virtually on Wednesday. Ted Corrigan, the utility’s chief operating officer and interim CEO, and Aaron Kraft were selected as the top candidates last month. They will be interviewed starting at 1:50 p.m. by the Waterworks board of trustees on the virtual platform Zoom. You can view the interviews at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84229384111. The board chose the search firm Colin Baenziger & Associates to help find candidates for the position. The firm received 122 applications, with eight being forwarded to the board for consideration. Four of those candidates were interviewed, with Corrigan and Kraft being selected to move on to the next phase of the selection process. Kraft is scheduled to be interviewed first, followed by Corrigan. Corrigan has been with Des Moines Water Works since 1990, and has served as interim CEO and general manager since last year. He previously held positions of director of water distribution, director of water production, and senior engineer and engineer. Kraft currently works for Veolia, a private utility contract management firm, at the waterworks in Rialto, Calif. He has worked there since 2009 and has served as general manager since 2018. He previously served as assistant general manager for two years, was project manager for Vancouver, Wash., for six years, and was central region operations director for American Water Enterprises in Sioux City, and was the environmental services director for Sioux City for eight years. A regular Water Works Board meeting scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday has been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date.
