Homes sales in the Greater Des Moines area slipped 8.4% in May when compared with a year ago, new monthly data from the Greater Des Moines Area Association of Realtors shows. Last month, 1,299 homes were sold in the Des Moines area, down from the 1,419 sold in May 2019, according to the association. However, the number of May home sales outpaced April, when 1,169 were sold. The median price of a home sold in the Des Moines area in May was $224,000, up from April’s median sale price of $215,000. The average number of days homes were on the market was slightly less in May (55) compared with April (61).
