Noose found at Facebook Data Center construction site in Altoona
Des Moines Register: The Altoona Police Department launched a criminal investigation after a noose was found at the Facebook Data Center on Friday. A supervisor from Turner Construction — one of the companies working on construction at the Facebook Data Center — called police right before 6 a.m. on Friday after discovering the noose hanging from a lock box, a news release from the Altoona Police Department states. An employee of the Waldinger Corp. posted a picture of the noose on Facebook, claiming the noose was put up where two of the three Black employees on the project could “easily find it.” In a statement sent to the Business Record, a Facebook Altoona company spokesperson said: “This incident is absolutely reprehensible, and happened on a day that should be devoted to commemorating freedom and dismantling systemic racism. We are working with the general contracting company and law enforcement on their investigations, and we will make sure whoever is responsible is made accountable to the fullest extent possible under the law.”
