Putz, who will become the 13th head coach in the program’s history, will succeed Josh Sash. Sash departed after one season to become an assistant men’s basketball coach at North Dakota State University. Putz was most recently assistant basketball coach at Chicago State University. In 2016-17, Putz was recognized on the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ 30 Under 30 List, which recognizes a group of up-and-coming young coaches in men’s college basketball. “I’m ecstatic about the opportunity to return to my home state of Iowa, and a powerhouse program like DMACC with a rich history of advancing student-athletes to four-year institutions,” Putz said in a press release. He and his wife, Jen, will move to Boone; DMACC’s athletics program is based at the Boone Campus.
