The Krause Gateway Center, home to Krause Group businesses, is a finalist for two Architizer A+ Awards, a global awards program focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture and products.
The Gateway Center at 1459 Grand Ave. in downtown Des Moines is a finalist in categories of Office Mid-Rise (five to 15 floors) and Architecture + Engineering.
OPN Architects, with offices in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Madison, Wis., collaborated with Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano and his Renzo Piano Building Workshop to design the building, which opened in late 2018.
Building features include an abundance of natural lighting, collaborative workspaces, outdoor meeting spaces, a rooftop garden and a first-floor art collection.
According to its website, Krause Group businesses include the Kum & Go convenience store chain, Solar Transport, the Des Moines Menace soccer team, Italian wineries, and real estate and agriculture operations.
Award winners are scheduled to be announced Aug. 4, according to the awards program’s website. The five finalists in each category are featured on Architizer’s website. To view them, click here.
