Proteus Inc. has hired Josefina Lopez Valdivia as the organization’s first marketing and communications coordinator. The nonprofit organization provides agricultural workers and their families in Iowa, Nebraska and Indiana with affordable health care, education assistance and job training. She will be responsible for marketing and communications for the organization, which will include social media, external and internal communications, marketing and outreach and media relations. A native of northwest Iowa, Lopez Valdivia received a degree in marketing management from the University of Iowa, where she worked with the Hawkeye Athletics Sports Marketing Team. She most recently worked at Drake University with the admissions team. Her family comes from a small rural town in Jalisco, Mexico; her grandfather was a migrant worker and she was exposed to migrant farmworkers’ lifestyle challenges while she was growing up. “Josefina brings not only necessary experience working in marketing and communications, but a personal connection to agricultural workers that will be important as Proteus connects to our stakeholders,” said Daniel Hoffman-Zinnel, CEO of Proteus. Lopez Valdivia can be reached at 515-348-6658 or jlopez@proteusinc.net.
