Three D.M. Performing Arts shows nominated for Tony Awards
Three shows that Des Moines Performing Arts invested in have been nominated for Tony Awards this year. They are: “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations” (12 nominations, including Best Musical), “The Cher Show” (three nominations, including best lead actress in a musical); and “The Prom” (seven nominations including Best Musical). Over the years, shows backed by DMPA have received 22 Tony nominations. Here’s the full list of this year’s nominees. The telecast is at 7 p.m. June 9 on CBS.
