Sale of D.M. parking garage receives final approval

90 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and Law, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe Des Moines City Council this week gave its final approval this week to sell the city’s 843-space parking garage at 750 Mulberry St. to EMC Insurance Cos. for $14.9 million. All of the paperwork associated with transaction is expected to be completed before the end of June. EMC and the city of Des Moines jointly built the structure in 2006. EMC owns the east half of the garage; the city owns the west. Under the agreement, EMC will continue to provide public parking in a portion of the garage.
