The University of Iowa, Vermeer, the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and General Mills top the list of Iowa’s 31 best employers according to Forbes, as the publication released its Best Employers by State 2019 list. The list includes organizations based in Iowa and out of state. Iowa-based companies that made the list are Vermeer, Grinnell Mutual, Principal Financial Group, Hy-Vee, Wells Enterprises, UnityPoint Health, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Fareway; municipalities and schools are the University of Iowa and its hospital system, the city of Des Moines, the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa State University, Davenport Community School District and Des Moines Area Community College.
