Iowa City’s city manager, Geoff Fruin, says a city goal to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2050 won’t be easy to reach, the Cedar Rapids Gazette reported. The City Council earlier this month declared the climate a crisis and moved to cut emissions drastically. The city wants to cut carbon emissions in 2030 by 45% of 2010 levels, and to net zero by 2050. “I don’t know if it is feasible or not, but 30 years is a long time,” Fruin said.
