A farm-rescue movie filmed using Sukup Manufacturing Co. grain bins will make its north Iowa debut Sept. 6-7 at the Iowa Independent Film Festival. The feature film, “Silo,” chronicles a harrowing day in the American heartland as family, neighbors and first responders work to rescue a teen before he drowns in the crop that has sustained their community for generations. Sukup designed and built a 42-foot diameter, six-ring bin for filming last summer in a Sukup-designed hangar at the Mason City Municipal Airport. The company also designed a 42-foot diameter, 12-ring bin for the filming site on a farm in Kentucky. “Silo” is nominated for best feature film in the festival.
