Iowans’ personal income grew by an annual rate of 2.3% in the second quarter, one of the lowest rates of growth in the country, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Overall, state personal income in the United States increased by an annual rate of 5.4% in the second quarter, a deceleration from the 6.2% increase in the first quarter. The percentage change in personal income across all states ranged from 7.5% in Texas to unchanged in North Dakota. Farming was a leading contributor to the earnings decrease in North Dakota and South Dakota, and to slow growth in Iowa, Mississippi, Nebraska and Kansas.
