Dawn Carlson, a longtime leader in Iowa’s fuel industry, plans to leave FUELIowa in February. She has led the organization for 17 years and leaves as president and CEO. When Carlson began working for the association in 1995, a gallon of gasoline cost $1.09 and biofuels were entering a new era of popularity. Over the years, Carlson became a go-to source for information about the industry as she represented fuel distributors, cooperatives, convenience and grocery stores, refiners, biofuel producers, and other industry firms. She was named president and CEO in 2003 and led a financial turnaround for the organization. The association’s revenue doubled since she became CEO.
