KCCI-TV: A massive warehouse development on the edge of Woodward — often rumored to be but never confirmed as Amazon — has been quashed, the town’s mayor announced last week. The warehouse and distribution facility was intended to have more than 1,000,000 square feet of space and potentially employ 1,000 people. It was to be built just south of the intersection of Iowa Highways 210 and 141. “When we got this project brought to us, it was on a very aggressive timeline,” said Mayor Todd Folkerts, who wanted to be clear he could not divulge any specifics of the plan. “The company had a deadline for occupancy of next fall. So there was a lot of things that had to happen very quickly.” At least one of those appears to have fallen through, as Folkerts was notified in a phone call Wednesday that the company had pulled out of the plan. “Unfortunately, we ran into a snag, and when that happened, the timeline could no longer be met, so the company pulled the project back,” he said. Read our previous coverage:Massive warehouse planned in Woodward: Is it Amazon?
