Urbandale Water Utility votes to join Des Moines in taking steps toward regionalization
Des Moines Register: Members of the Urbandale Water Utility voted unanimously Wednesday to join Des Moines in its decision to begin taking steps to create a regional water utility. The vote moves the process of regionalization forward, said General Manager Dale Acheson. The utility has not yet signed a 28E agreement that would allow the city to enter into a joint exercise of government powers with other utilities. Members of Des Moines Water Works’ board of trustees voted unanimously Dec. 21 to approve the resolution. West Des Moines Water Works’ board of trustees is expected to vote on the issue on Jan. 26.
