NOTABLE TRANSACTIONS: Indiana auto dealership buys land in Prairie Crossing in Altoona

The business would be Altoona’s first new-car dealership.
HOA RE LLC, managed by Gurley Leep Automotive Family, has purchased about 14 acres in the Prairie Crossing development that includes the Outlets of Des Moines, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, Burger Shed, two hotels, Bass Pro Shops, a convenience store with fuel pumps, and a coffee shop.
The group paid Prairie Crossing Investments Inc. $5.3 million for the undeveloped land, according to Polk County real estate records.
Heart of America Group, which managed Prairie Crossing Investments Inc., is developing Prairie Crossing.
In January, the Altoona City Council approved the preliminary and final plat and site plan for Gurley Leep Honda. The auto group is developing the northern part of the property first, the council was told. The southern portion of the lot will be developed in the future, depending on market demand.
The transaction was recorded Jan. 28.
