The grants, approved on Dec. 14, are for nine projects submitted by Burlington Trailways, Jefferson Lines and the city of Fort Dodge. Funding for the grants comes from a Federal Transit Administration program designed to support intercity bus providers that serve communities with fewer than 20,000 residents. Ten applications were submitted requesting nearly $2.4 million. Jefferson Lines was awarded funds to replace two coaches. Burlington Trailways will replace one coach. All three providers will receive funding for marketing their existing services. A full listing of projects and funding is available on the Iowa Department of Transportation website.
