The 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series Des Moines, which had been scheduled for March 2-5 at the MidAmerican Energy Aquatic Center at the Wellmark YMCA, has been canceled after the 2022 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, were postponed because of concerns with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. USA Swimming made the announcement today. It follows the announcement that the 2022 FINA World Championships would be postponed to 2023. The TYR Pro Swim Series in Des Moines was planned as a qualifying meet for the Phillips 66 International Team Trials in April, and in turn the world championships. USA Swimming is reviewing its calendar to find the best time to reschedule the Des Moines competition. According to the announcement from FINA, “given the current pandemic situation and the measures currently in place in Japan,” the decision was made to reschedule the 19th FINA World Championships to July 14-30, 2023.” The decision was made to ensure a safe and successful event for everyone involved,” the statement read.
