The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has announced three competitive grant programs that will be available to nonprofit organizations in the Des Moines area. The grants, made possible by contributions to the Better Together Fund, are Leadership Grants, Capacity Building Grants and Strategic Collaboration Grants. They will be awarded throughout the year.

  • Leadership Grants are centered on equity and support opportunities that create “tidal waves” of impact around community needs, challenges and opportunities. Two Leadership Grant cycles will take place in 2022. Letters of intent for the first cycle are due March 24.
  • Capacity Building Grants seek to strengthen an organization’s effectiveness. Funding is provided for strategic initiatives in areas related to governance or management. These grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.
  • Strategic Collaboration Grants provide funding for coalition development/strategic alignments around a community issue or priority. They are available for organizations interested in exploring strategic alignment and mergers between organizations. These grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.
