River Constellation, a new public art piece celebrating community and water, will be dedicated at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 in Des Moines Water Works Park, 2201 George Flagg Parkway. The public ceremony will include brief remarks and the lighting of the sculpture located in the Community Foundation Concourse south of the Lauridsen Amphitheater. River Constellation features sound and light in a collection of vertical poles flowing horizontally, tracing the courses of the Des Moines and Raccoon rivers that supply drinking water to more than 500,000 central Iowans. The permanent installation is presented by the Kyle and Sharon Krause Family Foundation. Stacked rings at the base of each pole display names of people memorialized with trees in the Arie den Bohr Arboretum that were replaced during park improvements. For more information, click here.
