Indianola-based community bank TruBank has committed to be the premier sponsor for the Disc Golf Pro Tour tournament that will be held Aug. 19-21 at Pickard Park in Indianola. The 2022 TruBank Des Moines Challenge event presented by Discraft will be the 12th DGPT tour stop on the tournament’s 2022 schedule, leading up to the Pro Tour Championship in October to be held in North Carolina. “The TruBank DSM Challenge is a great opportunity to see some of the best players from around the world compete right here in central Iowa,” TruBank CEO Keith Welling said in a release. Welling said this is the bank’s first sponsorship of the local challenge, which has been held the past 20 years in Indianola. TruBank did not disclose the dollar amount of its sponsorship, but Welling said it will be a multiyear commitment. More than 300 disc golf players have registered for the A-Tier, while over another 180 players have registered for the DGPT event. “Disc golf is such a great sport. Anyone can play and it is a way to connect your mind, body, and spirit as one,” said Amanda Berry, President of the Des Moines Metro Disc Golf Club.
