184 wordsAll Latest News, Health and Wellness, The Insider NotebookThe mental health effects of working through a pandemic have persisted two years on, according to a new study from Mental Health America and the Faas Foundation. Survey responses from more than 11,300 U.S. employees across 17 industries showed 71% of people found it difficult to concentrate at work, which is up from 65% in 2020 and 46% in 2018. Seventy-eight percent of respondents reported workplace stress affects their mental health. While awareness of mental health issues has increased among employers since the pandemic, respondents said they need more support from their leaders. About 60% of respondents said their manager cares about their well-being, but about 60% also disagreed that their managers encourage them to take time off when needed and only 40% said their company invests in developing supportive managers. “This report highlights the need for leadership to reduce, and ideally eliminate, the tremendous amount of unnecessary stress workers face, largely because the conditions necessary for active and positive engagement do not exist in their workplace,” said Andrew Faas, founder of the Faas Foundation.
